Sting Blue 12U 6, Pleasanton Phantom 6

Sting pitcher Fiona Riley blanked the potent Phantom offense
through 3 innings, striking out three. Katie Tick pulled down
2 line drives in center to stifle Phantom. Sting hitters exploded
in the 3rd, with Tick doubling, Taylor Ivancich’s sac bunt,
Allie Presher singling Tick home, and Riley singling in both
Presher and Marisa Budlong and then stealing home for the
fourth run. Phantom struck for 3 in the 4th, but Riley struck out
one and Jaclyn Caldwell caught 2 flies at third to limit Phantom.
Phantom tacked on 2 in the 5th to even it at 6 apiece.

Castro Valley Synergy Black 12, Sting Blue 12U 5

On a torrid afternoon, Synergy struck for 3 in the 1st. Sting
countered when Maggy DiCostanzo singled to right, scoring
Riley. Synergy unloaded in the 3rd for 7 runs. In the 4th,
Riley doubled home Meagan Tokunaga and Marisa Budlong,
but Sting’s late charge fell short.

Sting Blue 12U 11, San Mateo Slammers 4

Sting pitcher Izzy Lubin-Brown and crisp defense held the
Slammers scoreless through 3. Highlights include catcher
DiCostanzo’s tag at home. Sting batters enjoyed a blowout
3rd inning, racking up 11 runs. Notable exploits include a
2-RBI double from Caldwell, singles from Presher, Riley,
DiCostanzo, Lubin-Brown, Tick, and Ellie Arkin.

Castro Valley Synergy Green 5, Sting Blue 12U 1

Sting scored first on Tokunaga’s single to center.
Despite two solid hits off the bat of Ellie Arkin and
a fine underhanded scoop from first by Riley, Sting
could not put up another run, as Synergy tallied
5 runs.
