Sting Blue 12U 12, Davis Lady Demons 3

Taylor Ivancich came up big on defense, hauling down a drive for one out in left, then backing up an overthrow after a 6-3 out and gunning a throw to catcher Clara Obstfeld to nail a Demon at the plate. Sting managed three hits, but no runs in the first, then erupted for four runs in the second off hits from Izzy Lubin-Brown, Obstfeld, Katie Tick and Meagan Tokunaga. Pitcher Fiona Riley blanked the Demons for three innings, racking up four strikeouts and tormenting Demon batters with her changeup. Sting added five in the third off walks followed by hits from Lubin-Brown, Obstfeld and a double from Tokunaga. With runners at second and third, Sting fielders Kate Moore and Camille Dyhr curtailed a Demon rally with fine running catches.

Sting Blue 12U 10, Roseville Thunder 3

Hits from Dyhr, Anna Moore and Tick contributed to a Sting
rally in the second. Sting pitcher Lubin-Brown stymied Thunder
batters for three innings, helped by catcher Jaclyn Caldwell’s
throw to shortstop Tokunaga in the first to quash a steal
attempt. Tick robbed a potential extra base hit by running
back to pull down a fly over her head.

Sting Blue 12U 3, Petaluma Steal Breeze 3

Hits off Sting batters Lubin-Brown and Tick advanced the run
tally to 2 in the second, with Tick amassing two RBIs.
The real story was good defense on both teams. Second
baseman Allie Presher let nothing past her glove, impressing
with five flys caught and three plays for outs. Sting catcher
Caldwell contributed to five putouts. In the end though, the
teams played to a draw.

Sting Blue 12U 14, Tri-County Diamonds 2

Sting dominated the Diamonds from start to finish,
hitting well and exploiting passed balls and errors
to pile up 14 runs.

Cupertino Inferno 6, Sting Blue 12U 1

Sting played a hard-fought game, despite the final score.
Highlights include an excellent running catch by Presher
at 2nd base, a solid triple off the bat of Lubin-Brown
followed by an RBI single from Tokunaga. Inferno hitters
proved too much for Sting, though, in the end.
