Sting Gold 12-U 5, Nor-Cal Rage 4.

Sting Gold battled back from a 4-2 deficit to defeat the Nor-Cal Rage 5-4 in the Davis-Dixon tournament this weekend.   After a slow start, Sting’s offense got on track when Kyle Daniels laced a sharp liner down the right field line to score Lila Rosenfeld.  Daniels narrowly escaped being caught in a run-down, but ended up scoring by stealing home on a throwing error by the Rage.   In the third inning, Stinger Lindsey Baker knocked a liner over the first basemen’s head and Catherine Cove advanced her with an infield single to the right side.  Sting catcher Zoe Fiddler cracked a single to score Baker, then Rosenfeld followed with an RBI that scored Alex Hickey, pinch-running for the injured Cove.   In the fourth, Stinger Maria Price-Hanson cracked a line double into right and scored by stealing home.  Sting held the Rage scoreless in the final innings with excellent pitching by Price-Hanson and solid defense, anchored by Daniels at first base.
