UC Twisters 7, Sting Gold 12U 6
Sting Gold started off the first sharply, with Alex Hickey drawing a walk, Catherine Cove advancing her to third with a double in the gap in left center, and Annie Smith driving her in with a line drive to right field.
In the second, Katy Nordahl led off with a single, Kyle Daniels was hit by a pitch, and Maria Price-Hansen reached on a fielder’s choice to the left side. Katy Robinson then clocked an RBI single to drive in Daniels, Price-Hansen stole home, and Zoe Pollack knocked in Robinson and Hickey with a shot to centerfield. In the third, Smith singled again, Zoe Fiddler and Lindsay Baker reached on consecutive fielder’s choices, and Emma Rotem singled, but Sting could not capitalize, leaving Baker and Rotem stranded. In the fourth, Daniels and Robinson singled again, and Pollack knocked them in with her second 2-RBI shot of the day, but it was not enough to hold off the Twisters. Pollack and Price-Hansen pitched well for Sting Gold but defensive lapses behind them spelled the difference between defeat and victory.
