Sting 10u won two games and lost three at the Hanum Harvest at the Freedom Park Complex in Sacramento on October 13 and 14.
First game - The Napa Sorcerers aggressive base running and hot pink pitching in the first game was a tough challenge match. Catcher Kendal Kirkman tagged the runner sliding home and threw to Nicole Nordahl at second for a doubleplay. Pitcher Sammie Chiang both struck out the batter with the bases loaded and then tossed the ball to Shannon Riggio-Kerley at first base to get that runner out. Faith Valdez’s solid pitching in the last inning held them back. .
Game 2 -
Sting’s spectacular batting and fielding in the second game beat the Pinole Rays. Pitcher Sammie and catcher Kendal where a smooth team. Second base woman Nicole snagged an in field pop up for a crowd pleasing out. Sting’s batting was unstoppable in the bottom of the first inning. Shannon started off the Rally with a solid double. Faith, Kendal, Imani Hiller-Bateau, Sydney Hersh and Erin Hoynes all followed with strong hits. In the bottom of the third inning Both Kendal and Sydney got triples.
Game 3 - Pleasant Hill Panthers
Pitcher Faith Valdez and catcher Emily Cain really honed their skills with the Panthers at bat. Shortstop Kendal made two outs back to back grabbing in field pop ups.
The umpire made one of the best calls of the day after the game was over. He congratulated the Berkeley Sting parents for their positive cheering and said that he had not heard such positive encouragment by folks in the stand in his 21 years of umpiring. Go ABGSL Sting!!
Sting met the Crush first thing on Sunday morning and won due to more great batting and base running. Imani got to third on a strong grounder past the shortstop, Erin H. brought Imani home with a fierce line drive to center field that earned her a double. In the next inning Sammie hit a tripple to bring home Kendal.
The last game against the Napa Sorcerers didn’t go as well, but the sting players did their best and had a great time. Sting showed some good fielding, but were unable to stop the Sorcerer’s fast and aggresive baserunning.

Very nice job of summarizing a fun weekend.

The parent support during this past weekend was fantastic and exactly why we chose ABGSL and STING.

Thanks Tracy. Can you edit Nicole’s name to Nicole Nordahl not Hordahl. Fun was had by all at the Homerun Harvest!
